If you are getting into the world of cooking from scratch, there are 3 must have kitchen appliances that will make your life so much easier!
You may already have these 3 appliances, or maybe it’s something you will need to invest in. Regardless of your situation, these appliances will make your life so much easier and helpful to you when you are cooking from scratch.
When you start this lifestyle of cooking from scratch, it really is a way of life and a shift in your mentality.
Yes, cooking from scratch takes time and effort. But it’s so worth it!
For me, I want to know what ingredients are in my food. My rule of thumb (99% of the time) is if I can’t pronounce something on a food label, do I really want that in my body? Or my family’s?
Plus how much more rewarding is it teach your kids the value of ingredients, how to cook from scratch, and then knowing that what you made, you did it! You didn’t have to rely on a package or a can, but with simple and real ingredients, you made it from scratch!
And might I add, that most of the time, it is cheaper! So saving money at the same time is a win-win to me.
So, what are these 3 must have kitchen appliances?
Ok, let’s dive in here!
Cast Iron Skillet
I never truly saw what was so amazing about the cast iron skillet until I actually started using it to its full potential.
One of the many things I love about the Cast Iron is knowing that it’s safe. Meaning that there are no harmful substances that it was made with (such as Teflon) that can seep into your food and potentially cause harm.
With the right care and “seasoning” of the cast iron, it will also become your favorite skillet to use when cooking from scratch.
Another great feature of the cast iron, is that you can cook meals in it! It can go in the oven and within minutes, you have a 1 pan meal made and on the table ready for your family.
Now who doesn’t love a 1 pan meal?!
I have cooked egg dishes, pizza crust, and even cinnamon rolls all in my cast iron skillet!
Are you convinced yet?
Trust me, you won’t regret investing in a cast iron skillet. You may realize you’re going to need more than one, once you see how great it is:)
Once you take the leap into sourdough bread, you will realize that you would be lost without your Dutch Oven.
The Dutch Oven is an amazing tool, because like the cast iron skillet, it hold the heat in so well that it cooks evenly. Not only can you bake your delicious sourdough bread in it but anything from soups, to soaking beans, to again baking a one pot dish in the oven.
The Dutch Oven is so versatile and what I love best is the fact that it does cook your food so evenly and holds the heat in so well.
If you cook sourdough, you know what I mean with that nice “spring” in your bread:)
Investing in a Dutch oven will cost around $50-$60. But again, so worth every penny!
It’s one of those appliances that will last a lifetime and you can pass on down to your kids!
Ok, so the Instapot may have been the most genius appliance ever invented.
I mean come on! What can’t this thing do?
I have used mine to slow cook a roast, make hard boiled eggs, cook refried beans from scratch, pressure cook a pork tenderloin, and my next endeavor is going to be making yogurt!
As a mama of two boys, life can get hectic, so anything that will make my life easier, sign me up!
The options are endless with the Instapot.
If you don’t have an Instapot, or don’t use it regularly, now is the time to invest in one (or start using yours) because using this will save you SO much time in the long run.
So, there ya have it! 3 must have kitchen appliances that every mama needs!
These 3 kitchen tools are by far some of my best investments to make cooking from scratch easier and my meals simple yet versatile.
