Keep reading if you’re wanting to up your home workouts with these 3 pieces of affordable equipment for your at home workouts under $200!
A lot of times people think that you need lots of equipment to change your body, gain muscle, and lose weight. However, some people fail to remember that you can get a mean workout with just a few pieces of equipment that uses your own body weight! (And focusing on your nutrition, which will be a topic for another blog post:)).
Exercise is not just a “one size fits all” routine. What works for one person may not work for another. You also have to find something that you ENJOY!
Read this post “3 Ways To Stay In Shape As A Stay-At-Home Mama” if you’d like more ideas on fun ways to exercise. You can still use the principles of this blog even if you don’t have children at home.
Now, I know what some of you are thinking, “Who actually ‘likes’ exercising?” and “How can you really ‘enjoy’ getting sore and sweating buckets?” But, what if you were to shift your mindset from trying to “enjoy” working out to “I am doing what is best for my body” and then maybe the enjoyment and joy will follow.
Remember, we are only given one body and one life to live. How are you going to CHOOSE to best take care of YOUR body?
Think of all the things you will be able to do if you are stronger, lose some weight, or increase your cardiovascular fitness.
Not to mention all the ways you will be able to show up for your loved ones. Whether that’s playing with (or chasing after;)) your young children, running a half marathon with your adult children, or keeping up with your grandchildren.
Aren’t those great reasons to exercise whether you like it or not?! I think they are, in my opinion, but you have to decide that one for yourself.
What is your WHY?
You must determine your “why”. Why do you exercise? Why do you want to be strong? Why do you want to improve your cardiovascular health? Once you answer these questions for yourself, then the exercising component should be more enjoyable and something you look forward to.
Remind yourself “why” you are exercising and allow the enjoyment to follow.
Now, are there days that you absolutely don’t “feel like” getting your sweat on and making your muscles burn? Definitely! I still have those days, and I have exercised my whole life. But those are the days you need it most. You are building not just your physical strength but your mental strength as well.
As the Nike slogan says, “Just Do It”. Get out of your head, don’t think about it and move your body! Once you release those good endorphins, you might just actually feel better and have more energy after you exercise:)
Go ahead, test it out, you won’t regret it and you will thank me later!
3 Pieces of Affordable Equipment for Your At Home Workouts Under $200
Ok! Here we go! Below I have listed my 3 favorite pieces of equipment that I believe are essentials for “at home” workouts and all for under $200!
1. TRX Suspension Trainer
This is my ALL TIME most FAVORITE piece of equipment! You can do so many exercises and it enables you to use your own body weight to make an exercise more or less difficult. Which means that if your kids, husband or other loved ones, want to join in on your workout fun, they can do so very easily and make their workout as hard or as easy as they please!
Some of the exercises that you can do with this piece of equipment include; many variations of push-ups, rows, squats, lunges, core exercises and even stretches. Again, you are able to scale the intensity of each exercise to your level and then progress when you gain strength!
Another amazing perk about this Suspension Trainer is that you can anchor it over a door which means that you can take it anywhere, so there are no excuses on vacation;)
2. Foam Roller
Not only can a foam roller help alleviate some of your aches and pains and aid in improving posture, but you can also use it for exercises that help engage your gluts, core, and those pesky inner thighs:). I highly recommend purchasing one LIKE THIS as a part of your ‘at home’ equipment repertoire.
As someone who is always trying to improve my posture and decrease my aches and pains, I can honestly say that I use a foam roller every day to help combat my postural imbalances and achy muscles. Although it may not “feel good” initially, it does help reduce my aches the more I use it!
3. Bands
These bands are so simple yet highly effective in helping you to activate muscles you never even knew you had. Just by adding this simple piece of equipment to your workout, it will add a whole new dimension and level of intensity to your workout routine. You can use some bands like these as I have found great value by adding them into my daily workouts.
Here are some of my personal favorite ways to include bands into your workout routine and the value it adds to each exercise:
1. Squats
Place the band just above your knees. Press out on the band slightly as you are squatting. Doing this helps to engage all the other little muscles in your gluts that will help keep your squat in perfect form and not allow your knees to cave in! Which down the road, could cause knee pain… which we definitely want to avoid;)
2. Glute Bridges
Again place the band above your knees. Lay on your back with feet flat on the ground. Then press hips up to the sky while engaging your gluts (butt) and pressing out slightly on the band. The added value of adding the band is that it forces you to use the smaller supporting muscles that we tend to forget about:)
3. Tricep extensions
If you don’t have dumbbells, bands are a great way to get in those muscles on the back of your arms!
There ya have it! 3 pieces of affordable equipment for your at home workouts under $200!
