Ingredients needed for this easy homemade garlic hummus
- Tahini– I have to say, that until I added this to my hummus, it never tasted as good as what I used to buy at the store. This really is a game changer when it comes to good tasting hummus. So get yourself some good quality tahini upfront! I buy mine from Trader Joe’s but you can purchase it from any local grocery store.
- Garlic– I use 2-3 cloves but feel free to adjust depending on how garlicy you like your hummus!
- Water– cold water
- Olive Oil– I like to use extra virgin olive oil- you can use some as a garnish on top too
- Lemon Juice– 1 full lemon or 2-3 tablespoons
- Salt– I use fine Himalayan pink salt
- Cumin– ground cumin and again add more as your taste buds desire
- Paprika– optional for garnishing
- Garbanzo beans or Chickpeas– 1-15oz can

Tips to making this easy homemade garlic hummus
- Make sure you use enough liquid- if you find that your hummus is a little on the thick side, feel free to add in more olive oil, water, or lemon juice. Depending on how you want the flavor to be, you can add all 3 or just 1 of those ingredients. I tend to add a bit more olive oil at the end while I am blending it until I get it to the consistency I like.
- If you are a garlic lover, than add as much garlic as you’d like! I found that adding more than 3 cloves of garlic was a bit overpowering for me. But again, personal preference.
- Don’t skimp on the lemon juice! The lemon juice really does help to balance out all the flavors and is a must need when making this recipe.
