From one mama to another, I know how hard it is to weed through all the information floating around out there about what’s “good” and what’s “bad”. What we should be feeding our kids one day, changes from day to day depending on what you read. It’s frustrating! You just want to do what’s best for your family and keep them as healthy as possible. Lucky for you, I have simplified this task by putting together a list of healthy brands to transform your kitchen.
As you are probably well aware, a lot of foods that you may have in your kitchen right now have a long list of ingredients, words that you can’t pronounce, added sugar with all kinds of different names and abbreviation, like GMO.
I would always tell my clients, “if you can’t pronounce an ingredient, then you probably shouldn’t put it in your body.” The less ingredients the better!
Another frustration, are all the different names that sugar has and how they always find ways to sneak it in to just about everything! Talk about infuriating! I get it. In the beginning of my fitness journey it was overwhelming when it came to wanting to eat healthy but I wasn’t exactly sure what to look for.
Knowing some of the ways they sneak sugar in is a great place to start. Familiarize yourself with some of “hidden sugar names” so you can start to become aware of when/if you do want to learn how to read food labels.
Tips to help transition your kitchen to healthier brands:
- SAVE/SHARE this post so you can return to it while you are shopping and will know what brands to look for.
- Start by swapping out your cooking oils, condiments, and spices.
- Next, find places or websites that sell those brands to make it easier on yourself. I will post some of my favorites below.
- While grocery shopping, look for items that say, minimally processed, NON-GMO, NO MSG or SLS, Organic, and Free Range.
- Continue to swap out your proteins, dairy products, snacks, drinks, and even your baking goods.
Remember, this is going to take time! Give yourself some grace and remember it’s a learning process and your body, and your possible health bills down the road, will thank you later.
My favorite places to purchase my “go-to” brands:
- Thrivemarket.com
- Amazon.com
- Luckyvitamin.com
- Azure Standard (use code LaurenWomble1)
- Sprouts Farmers Market
Ok, now that we know what to look for when it comes to hidden sugar and how to start swapping out your “not-so-great” ingredients for some healthier options, let’s move onto my favorite healthy brands!
