This no-bake energy bites recipe is sure to be a winner for your picky toddlers! These bites are filled with nutrient dense ingredients that will satisfy yours and your kids bellies.
Mama’s, have you tried this recipe yet? It’s one of my all time favorites. Not only because it’s delicious, but because it’s toddler approved! Can I get an “amen”?!
We all know how hard it can be at times to find healthy foods that our kids will eat and actually love. This recipe is a winner in our house.
I also enjoy getting my son involved. I love being able to explain to him how all of these good nutritious ingredients in these no-bake energy bites are going to fuel his brain and make him stronger!
Whenever I ask him now, “what are these energy bites doing for your body?”. He will respond with, “they are fueling my brain and making me stronger!”. All while pulling up his shirt sleeve and flexing his little nonexistent bicep muscle:). It brings joy to my heart knowing that he is learning how good healthy food is fuel and he’s only 3 years old.
The perks to no-bake energy bites
One of the greatest reasons these no-bake energy bites are so great, is because most of the time you already have the ingredients in your pantry and fridge. And if they aren’t, then this is a great reason to start stocking up on all these nutritious ingredients so you always have them on hand.
I buy a lot of my ingredients in bulk which definitely helps with cost as well as creating a good stock pile until you start running out. No need to go to the grocery store every week for the same ingredients when you can buy in bulk and have it on hand.
I personally love to use Azure Standard or Thrive Market to buy in bulk. More on that in this post 5 Ways To Save Money As a SAHM.
I also love the fact that they are NO-BAKE! You can relax knowing that your toddler can pick at it and eat it while making them and they won’t get sick.
No-bake energy bites ingredients
- Rolled Oats- these will serve as the base for all the combinations of energy bites you make
- Nut butter- your choice of nut butter- options include: peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter, sunflower butter, etc.
- Unsweetened coconut- feel free to toast it for an added depth of flavor
- Nuts-cashews, almonds, pecans, walnuts
- Seeds-sunflower seeds, chia seeds, pumpkin seeds
- Ground flaxseed
- Honey, maple syrup, or dates
- Chocolate chips (optional)
How to make your No-Bake Energy Bites
- Measure everything out and place in a bowl. (I like to blend everything in a blender so that it’s nice and fine.)
- Mix all ingredients together until fully combined- if it’s still a little dry, add a little more nut butter to bring it all together.
- Cover the bowl and place in the fridge for 1-2 hours. (This will help to get everything to stick together better.)
- Roll into balls of the size of your liking.
- Enjoy! Or store in an air tight container in the fridge.
Wanna switch up the flavor? Try these variations!
Feel free to experiment with these delicious energy bites! There are so many ways to switch up the flavors so that way you don’t get too tired of this recipe;) Below are some ways to switch it up…
- Use different sweeteners- honey, maple syrup, or even dates
- Add different spices- cinnamon, nutmeg, and pumpkin spice are some of my favorites
- Alternate which nut butters you use
- Make bars instead of balls- if you are short on time, place a piece of parchment in a dish and press the mixture into the dish. Place in the fridge until they are hard and then cut and serve!
- Omit the coconut or anything you aren’t a fan of- again, blending it so that everything is nice and fine, definitely helps to hide some of those flavors or textures that your toddler may not like.
Alright, mamas, enjoy! Good luck and comment with your own variations below that your toddlers have devoured!:)
